The missions of the University as defined by the National Education and Training Charter and by Law 01-00, Article 3 are:

  • To contribute to the strengthening of Islamic and national identity;
  • To ensure initial and ongoing training;
  • To develop and disseminate knowledge, information, and culture;
  • To prepare young people for their integration into working life, particularly by developing practical skills;
  • To promote scientific and technological research;
  • To carry out expertise ;
  • To participate in the overall development of the country;
  • To contribute to the promotion of universal values.

The primary mission of universities is to provide all initial teachings and training, as well as to prepare and award the corresponding diplomas. They also organize continuing education for active or inactive individuals to meet individual or collective needs. The University is a place where knowledge, both for the present and the future, is developed, transmitted, and subjected to critical reflection, while preserving the freedom of research and teaching.

In its research activities, the University participates in the acquisition and development of knowledge in response to societal challenges. Regarding teaching, it develops students' abilities to assimilate academic knowledge, apply scientific methods to solve problems, and make discoveries that exceed current knowledge.

The University is an integral part of the structure of modern knowledge societies and must have the necessary means to fulfill its role. Thus, communication with the non-university public and openness to societal issues take on a crucial dimension in a complex economic and political context, while emphasizing the importance of research for the social, cultural, and economic development of the country.

It must also respect the principle of social responsibility in teaching and research, aiming to provide all students, whether they are in restricted or open access cycles, with academic and professional qualifications, and preparing them to contribute to the future development of society, even before obtaining their degree. In terms of research, this translates into high- level fundamental research, open to application, also contributing to the economic competitiveness of the country through cooperation projects with businesses and companies.
