ERASMUS+ PROGRAM

Erasmus+ is a program of the European Union, funded by the European Commission, covering the period 2021-2027. Its objective is to modernize and improve higher education in Europe and internationally. This program offers students and staff opportunities to develop their skills and broaden their professional horizons.

For more information about the Erasmus+ program, check this: : https://info.erasmusplus.fr/

This key action supports :

  • Mobility of learners and staff: Opportunities offered to students, adult learners, interns, and young people, as well as teachers, trainers, educators, youth workers, sports staff, and civil society organization members to undertake a professional experience or learning in another country.
  • Youth participation activities:Local and transnational initiatives carried out by informal groups of young people or youth organizations to help young individuals engage in democratic life and learn how to participate, while raising awareness of fundamental rights and shared values of the European Union, organizing meetings between young people and decision-makers at local, national, and European levels, and contributing to the achievement of common EU objectives.
  • Mobility of staff in the field of sports: Staff members of sports organizations, primarily in mass sports, have the opportunity to enhance their skills and qualifications and acquire new abilities through mobility for learning by spending some time abroad, thereby contributing to capacity building and the development of sports organizations. This action supports the professional development of coaches and other staff members (both paid and voluntary) in mass sports. Staff involved in non-mass sports, including those pursuing dual careers—both athletic and non-athletic—can also strengthen the learning impact and knowledge transfer for staff and organizations engaged in mass sports. Opportunities for learning mobility for staff involved in non-mass sports can be encouraged if their participation can benefit mass sports.
  • DiscoverEU:  This action offers young people aged 18 the opportunity to have a short-term travel experience, either individually or in groups, across Europe. As an informal learning activity, DiscoverEU aims to enhance participants' sense of belonging to the European Union and allow them to explore its cultural diversity. It also aims to equip young people with valuable skills and competencies for their future lives, encouraging them to prioritize sustainable travel in particular and adopt environmental awareness in general. DiscoverEU includes a general action, where young people can apply directly on the European Youth Portal, as well as an inclusion action. The inclusion action of the DiscoverEU initiative targets young people with fewer opportunities to facilitate their participation in DiscoverEU on an equal footing with their peers.
  • The program offers language learning opportunities for participants involved in an activity of mobility abroad. This support will primarily be provided through the online linguistic support tool Erasmus+, with adaptations based on the needs of each sector, as online teaching offers advantages for language learning in terms of access and flexibility. In certain specific cases, when online learning is not the most suitable tool for reaching the target group, other forms of linguistic support will be offered.
  • Virtual exchanges in higher education and the youth field: This action allows for the organization of online interpersonal activities that promote intercultural dialogue and the development of non-technical skills among individuals from third countries not associated with the program, EU member states, or third countries associated with the program. These activities take place in small groups and are always facilitated by a qualified facilitator.

Projects supporting cooperation, including:

  • Cooperation Partnerships: The primary goal of these partnerships is to enable organizations to improve the quality and relevance of their activities, develop and strengthen their networks of partners, and enhance their ability to work jointly at the transnational level. This is achieved by stimulating the internationalization of their activities and exchanging or developing new practices and methods, as well as promoting the exchange and confrontation of ideas.
  • Simplified Partnership Projects: This action aims to widen access to the program for small actors and hard-to-reach individuals in the fields of school education, adult education, vocational education and training, youth, and sports. By reducing grant amounts for organizations, shortening project duration, and simplifying administrative requirements compared to cooperation partnerships, this action seeks to reach local organizations, first-time applicants to the program, and less experienced organizations by lowering barriers that hinder access for those with limited organizational capacities.

Excellence Partnerships, including:

  • European Universities: This action supports the emergence of alliances based on a bottom-up approach, bringing together higher education institutions that will significantly advance cross-border cooperation through the development of long- term joint strategies for a high-quality education, research, and innovation sector, based on a common vision and shared values.
  • Centers of Professional Excellence: This action is part of a bottom-up approach to professional excellence, involving a wide range of local actors that enables vocational education and training (VET) institutions to quickly adapt educational offerings to the evolving economic and social needs. They operate within a specific local context, creating skills ecosystems for innovation, regional development, and social inclusion while collaborating with centers of excellence in other countries through international collaboration networks. They offer initial training opportunities for youth, as well as upskilling and reskilling for adults through flexible and timely training that meets the needs of a dynamic labor market, including in the context of ecological and digital transitions.
  • Erasmus+ Teacher Academies: The overall goal of this action is to establish European partnerships between providers of education and training for teachers to set up Erasmus+ Teacher Academies that will develop a European and international vision for teacher training. The academies will integrate multilingualism and cultural diversity, develop teacher training in line with EU priorities within education policy, and contribute to achieving the objectives of the European Education Area.
  • Erasmus Mundus Action: This action aims to promote excellence and global internationalization of higher education institutions through jointly organized master’s degree programs recognized mutually by higher education institutions established in Europe and open to institutions from other countries around the world.

Partnerships for Innovation, including:

  • Alliances for Innovation: This action aims to encourage strategic cooperation among key players in higher education and vocational education and training, the private sector, and research – the "knowledge triangle" – to stimulate innovation and modernization of education and training systems. The goal is to identify and develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to meet future labor market demands in sectors and fields strategic for ensuring sustainable growth and competitiveness in Europe.
  • Forward-Looking Projects: This action aims to encourage innovation, creativity, participation, and social entrepreneurship in various fields of education and training. It will support forward-looking ideas focused on fundamental European priorities, likely to be scaled up and to inform the improvement of education and training systems, as well as significantly evolve the methods and practices employed in all types of learning frameworks and active participation for European social cohesion.

Capacity Building Projects, including:

  • Capacity Building Projects in Higher Education: This action supports international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organizations active in higher education in EU member states or associated third countries and non-associated third countries. They aim to enhance relevance, quality, modernization, accessibility, and higher education in non-associated third countries as catalysts for sustainable socio-economic development.
  • Capacity Building Projects in Vocational Education and Training: This action supports international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organizations active in VET in EU member states, associated third countries, and non-associated third countries. They aim to enhance relevance, accessibility, and responsiveness of VET institutions and systems in non-associated third countries as catalysts for sustainable socio-economic development.
  • Capacity Building Projects in Youth: This action supports cooperation and exchanges in the field of youth among organizations from EU member states, associated third countries, and non-associated third countries, covering non- formal learning activities. It emphasizes strengthening the capacities of organizations working with youth outside formal learning while ensuring active participation of young people.
  • Capacity Building Projects in Sport: This action supports international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organizations active in the sports field in EU member states, associated third countries, and non-associated third countries. They aim to support activities and policies related to sports in non-associated third countries as a means of promoting values and as an educational tool aimed at enhancing personal and social development of individuals and building more cohesive communities.

Non-Profit Sports Events: This action will support the preparation, organization, and follow- up of non-profit sports events held in one or more countries by non-profit organizations or public bodies active in the sports field. These events aim to increase the visibility of Erasmus+ actions focused on sports and raise awareness of the role played by sports in promoting social inclusion, equal opportunities, and health-promoting physical activities.

Online Platforms: Platforms such as the European Platform for School Education (including eTwinning), the Electronic Platform for Adult Education in Europe (EPALE), and the European Youth Portal will provide virtual collaboration spaces, databases for partner searches, communities of practice, and other online services targeted at teachers, trainers, socio- educational facilitators, policymakers, and other professionals in the sector, as well as students, youth, and adult learners from Europe and beyond.

This key action supports:

The action "Young Europeans Together," targeting youth organizations at the local level and larger organizations, supporting cross-border partnerships. Activities organized under this action should contribute to broadening dialogue with youth to ensure a diversity of voices and a wide range of young people within youth organizations and beyond, including those with fewer opportunities. They should include various traditional and digital channels and facilitate the development of partnerships and networks, allowing participation and access for local NGOs and youth movements.

Furthermore, this key action covers:

  • Actions aimed at preparing and supporting the implementation of the EU strategic program on education, training, youth, and sport, including sectoral programs related to higher education, vocational education and training, schools, and adult education, particularly by facilitating governance and the functioning of open coordination methods.
  • The establishment of experiments related to European policy, conducted by high- level public authorities, involving field trials in several countries on strategic measures based on robust evaluation methods. In accordance with the EU Youth Strategy, financial aid will also be granted to structures leading national working groups designated by each national authority within the EU dialogue for youth at the national level.
  • Actions aimed at gathering factual elements and knowledge about education, training, youth, and sports policies and systems at national and European levels, to facilitate rational policy development. The collection and analysis of factual elements will be carried out through surveys and studies at the European or international level, as well as thematic expertise and expertise on country-specific situations.
  • Actions that facilitate transparency and recognition of skills and certifications, as well as credit transfer, to promote quality assurance, support the validation of non- formal and informal learning, knowledge management, and guidance. This category will also include support for national and European bodies or networks that facilitate trans-European exchanges and the establishment of flexible learning pathways across different fields of education, training, and youth, and between formal, non-formal, and informal learning contexts.
  • Actions that promote strategic dialogue with stakeholders inside and outside the European Union through conferences, events, and other activities involving policymakers, sector professionals, and other relevant actors in education, training, youth, and sport, aiming to draw attention to relevant European strategic programs and promote Europe as a destination of excellence for studies and research.
  • Cooperation with international organizations with widely recognized expertise and analytical capacity (such as the OECD and the Council of Europe) to enhance the influence and added value of policies in the fields of education, training, youth, and sport.

Jean Monnet actions support :

  • The Jean Monnet action in higher education: this action supports higher education institutions in Europe and beyond to promote teaching and research on the subject of European integration, as well as exchanges and debates involving academics and policymakers on the strategic priorities of the Union. The supported sub-actions are as follows: Jean Monnet Modules: short teaching programs in one or more areas of European Union studies; Jean Monnet Chairs: longer-term teaching positions specializing in European Union studies for individual university professors; Jean Monnet Centers of Excellence: focal points that centralize expert knowledge in various fields of European Union studies and establish transnational activities and structural links with academic institutions in other countries.
  • The Jean Monnet action in other areas of education and training: this action promotes knowledge of the European Union in schools and vocational education and training (VET) institutions in EU member states and third countries associated with the program. It aims to enable educational service providers to develop content and provide it to learners, support teacher training providers in assisting teachers with updated methodologies and knowledge on European Union-related issues, and promote debates and exchanges between representatives of schools and VET institutions and stakeholders on learning about European Union topics. The supported sub-actions are as follows: teacher training: designing and offering structured training proposals on EU-related topics for teachers; “Learning the EU” initiatives: promoting better understanding in general education and vocational training (ISCED levels 1-4).
  • The Jean Monnet political debate: Jean Monnet networks in higher education, according to a specific theme linked to a priority of the Commission, will gather, share, and examine research findings, course content, and experiences among partners, as well as products (studies, articles, course content, etc.); networks for other areas of education and training will exchange good practices and experiences of co-teaching within a group of countries.
  • Support granted to designated institutions: this action supports institutions pursuing a European interest objective, providing the European Union, its member states, and its citizens with quality services in specific priority areas. The main activities and outreach actions carried out by these institutions include research activities, including data collection and analysis to inform future policies, on-site and online teaching activities for future staff members of international organizations and officials, particularly in the fields of law and management, organizing events on priority issues for the Union, and disseminating specific results and general information to the public.

In its Sport component, the Erasmus+ program provides pedagogical and financial support for two types of projects:

  • Non-profit European sports events :

Non-profit sports events organized in the European Union aim to encourage participation in physical and sporting activities and the development of volunteering. They also aim to enhance understanding of the role of sport in social inclusion, equal opportunities, and health. Erasmus+ supports activities related to the event itself as well as training and evaluation actions.

  • Collaborative partnerships :

Erasmus+ offers organizations the opportunity to develop, transfer, and implement innovative practices in the field of sport, involving other European structures. Supported projects encourage thedevelopment and establishment of European networks in the field of sport. They can vary in scale depending on the number of partner countries involved.

Hassan II University of Casablanca (UH2C) is actively strengthening its collaborations with European partners by integrating various networks and strategic alliances. This dynamic allows it to participate in international project calls, thereby promoting mobility, the exchange of expertise, and access to new academic and scientific opportunities. Thanks to these partnerships, students, teachers, and researchers at UH2C benefit from innovative programs, research funding, and increased access to the European higher education and research area.
