Overview of UH2C
Origins:
Hassan II University of Casablanca was founded on the 14th of Safar 1395 (February 26, 1975) under Article 4 of the Dahir Law No. 1-75-102 of the 13th of Safar 1395 (February 25, 1975), related to the organization of universities. This institution originally included three establishments: the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, and the Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization.
The first core of Hassan II University -Mohammedia was established in 1984, as part of a policy to decentralize university institutions in Morocco. In 1992, Hassan II University- Mohammedia was officially created, thus consolidating its academic presence and strengthening its role in the Moroccan university landscape.
2014 Merger :
In September 2014, a major milestone was achieved with the merger of Hassan II University- Mohammedia and Hassan II University- Casablanca, giving rise to Hassan II University of Casablanca (UH2C). This merger aimed to optimize resources by consolidating human and material means for better efficiency, harmonize academic programs to provide coherent and quality training, and strengthen competitiveness by positioning the University as a major player both nationally and internationally.
This unification made Hassan II University of Casablanca one of the largest universities in the country in terms of enrollment, with approximately 143,000 students, and in the number of institutions, totaling 18 institutions spread across several campuses in Casablanca and Mohammedia.
Today, Hassan II University of Casablanca continues to play a central role in the development of higher education in Morocco, offering a wide range of training programs and actively contributing to scientific research and innovation. It also aims to train citizens capable of understanding the complexities of the current world and facing them with discernment, preparing them to address global challenges and societal issues.
Moreover, UH2C places particular importance on international cooperation, establishing strategic partnerships with academic and research institutions worldwide. These collaborations enhance the mobility of students and teachers, promote knowledge sharing, and pave the way for innovative joint projects. Additionally, Hassan II University is deeply rooted in its local environment. It fulfills its social responsibility by addressing the specific needs of the Casablanca-Settat region, particularly by supporting economic, social, and cultural development. Through its initiatives, it contributes to solving local issues while promoting a sustainable and inclusive approach.
Thus, Hassan II University of Casablanca is not just an academic center of excellence; it also positions itself as an engaged actor in national and international dynamics, fully assuming its role in serving society.
